Leif S. Walker

Ocean Park resident Leif S. Walker, 58, died of natural causes at his Ocean Park residence om October 10, 2016. He was born July 4, 1958 in Seattle and grew up in Mountlake Terrace with his parents Gloria and Henry and sisters Casey and Dana. His material grandmother Anna Husby, whom he loved dearly, spent time raising him as a young child. At the 18 he moved to Camano Island where he met Teresa “Teri” Tollefson. They married July 17, 1978 and became parents to daughter Anna. Following graduation from Woodway High School in 1976 Leif took an interest in gardening before becoming a stone mason and member of the Masonry Union. An on the job injury necessitated a career change and in 1993 he received his bachelor's degree in building construction from the University of Washington. Leif first began visiting the Peninsula as a child with his father Henry who sold real estate in Surfside to land developers. Leif never lost his love of the area and in 1993 moved permanently to Ocean Park with his daughter. Here he returned to his love of gardening, later purchasing and operating the Black Bear Beach Camp RV park. Leif was a member of Ocean Park United Methodist Church since 1994; member of Ocean Park Eagles; and proud of his affiliation with Occident Lodge #99 A&AM of Ilwaco. He loved everything about bicycles from owning and rebuilding bikes for purpose and pleasure. He also loved dogs of which he owned and loved many. In addition, he had a love for language, having studied at UW, and learned to fluently speak both Russian and Norwegian. Leif is survived by his daughter Anna Kerwin of Carson, Washington; sister Dana Walker of Lake Forest Park, WA; cousin Todd Husby; several nephews; and other members of his extended family. He was preceded in death by his parents and his sister Casey Walker. Funeral seervice will be Sat., October 22nd, 1:00 PM at Ocean Park United Methodist Church. Concluding graveside rites will be at Ocean Park Cemetery and a reception at the church following. His casket will be open Thursday and Friday, 10 AM until 4 PM at Penttila's Chapel by The Sea.
