Fredrick VanDemarr

April 28, 1938 — February 24, 2016

Fredrick E. “Van” VanDemarr, 77, died February 24, 2016 at his Long Beach residence. Born at home in Portland, Oregon on April 28, 1938, he was the son of Clyde and Selina (Moodenbaugh) VanDemarr. Van attended Arleta grade and Benson High School in Portland.

Folllowing high school Van joined the Army National Guard. During his working career he drove bus for TriMet in Portland, was a policeman for the Washougal (Washington) Police Department and later drove truck for ADS Systems of Washougal and May Trucking of Salem, Oregon for 16 years before retirement. Van moved to the Peninsula 26 years ago.

Van enjoyed watching sports, fishing, TV crime shows and reading, As a member of the Peninsula Church of The Nazarene he was active as a board member, trustee, His Supper Table volunteer and member of Men of The Cross.

Van is survived by hi wife Shirley of the family home in Long Beach; children Lori Faye Kinderman, Larry Robert (Charlene) VanDemarr, Vance Allen VanDemarr, Christine Louann (Bruce) Light, and Amy May Randall; 15 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by three brothers and two sisters.

Celebration of His Life will be held Sat., April 2, 2016, 10:00 AM at Peninsula Church of The Nazarene in Long Beach. Memorials are requested to His Supper Table at the church. His guestbook is available at www.penttilaschapel.com.
