June Della Lewis Sedy

October 20, 1929 — February 11, 2016

June Della (Lewis) Sedy, was born on Oct. 20, 1929, in South Nemah, Washington, to Charles and Alice (Prior) Lagergren. She passed away February 11, 2016, at the Ocean Beach Hospital in Ilwaco with her family by her side. 

Before June married the love of her life, Lawrence O. Lewis, on August 24, 1947, she attended elementary and high school in Naselle.  After they married the Lewis’ settled in Pacific County, first, in Sargents’ cabins in Nemah and at Harlen Harrold’s Oyster/Fishing Cannery cabins.  

June was a wonderful stay-at-home mother to her five children: Gary Lewis, Sheryl McElroy (Bob), Kenny Lewis, Allen Lewis (Margie), and Leslie Walters (Gary). She loved to cook and would cook for the crew on Lawrence’s fishing boat. June also enjoyed playing cards and crocheting; and she especially loved having visitors.

June is survived by her children, 15 grandchildren, 35 great-grandchildren, 25 nieces/nephews and one great-great grandchild.

She was preceded in death by husband, Lawrence and second husband, Harvey Sedy; her brothers, Fred, Raymond, George and Don Lagergren and her sister, Evelyn Blaylock.

A celebration of June’s life will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 27, at Grace Community Church in South Bend.
