Lois D. Kersting

Lois D. Kerstring, 83, a resident of Klipsan Beach the past 40 years, died in Astoria on November 23, 2015.  Lois was born in Spokane, Washington on August 17, 1932, the daughter of Price and Bernice (Gifford) Hysmith. Her father was a railroad locomotive engineer and the family lived and traveled throughout eastern Washington.   Lois attended elementary school in Ritzville, junior high in Othello, and graduated from high school in CleEllum. She was married to Carmen Bliss from 1955 until 1975 and became mother to three children. In 1994 she married Henry Kerstring. Lois resided in Spokane until moving to the Peninsula in 1977, having visited the areas often with her parents. She was employed locally with Telephone Utilities until retirement in 1988.   Lois was a life member of the Order of Eastern Star. She and Henry enjoyed cruising the numerous lakes and river in the Northwest in their boat, enjoyed ocean cruises, and trips to Europe. She was an excellent seamstress, gardener and cook, and her pride and joy was her family and especially her grandchildren.   Lois is survived by her husband Henry; children Rowland (Brenda) Bliss, Jeannie (David) Weyl, and Vincent (LeeAnne) Bliss; grandchildren Michael and Isabella Bliss, Melany Shane, Cody and Dylan Bliss, Chrystal Rose (Stephen) Himes, Harley and Daniel Weyl; Joshua, Phillip and Gwen Wall. Besides her parents she was preceded in death by her brother Price Hysmith Jr.   Private family service will be held. Memorials are requested to the Shriner's Hospital for Children in care of Penttila's Chapel by The Sea, PO Box 417, Long Beach, WA 98631. Her guestbook is available at www.penttilaschapel.com.
