Joyce C. Tuerck

May 18, 1950 — June 18, 2015

Joyce C. Tuerck, 65, died at her Ocean Park residence on June 18, 2015. The daughter of Charles and Athelda Church, she was born May 18, 1950 in Vancouver, Washington. Joyce grew up in The Dalles, Oregon where she graduated from high school in 1968. Moving to Portland, Joyce was employed by Freightliner Corporation until retirement. Eight years ago she moved to the Surfside area of Ocean Park. Joyce was a member of Ocean Park Eagles and Ocean Park Moose. She was a volunteer EMT for Pacific County Fire District #1 and was honored as "EMT of the Year" during the 27th Annual Derald D. Robertson Safety Awards and just recently was recognized by the State of Washington as a 2015 EMT of the year. Joyce took great pride in being an EMT and was rightly proud of same. In her "spare" time Joyce made dog sweaters which she sold on the web and e-Bay. Very much a "people" person she enjoyed meeting new faces and helping whenever and wherever. Retirement at the beach was a joy to her, enjoying the sunsets and her canine companions. On August 30, 1986 she married John Tuerck in Portland and he survives residing at the family home. Also surviving are daughter Christine Domer of South Carolina; step-daughter Amy Morris of Aloha, Oregon; sister Gale (Joel) Armstrong of Arlington, OR; five grandchildren and other members of her extended family. She was preceded in death by daughter Pam Ralph and Robbert Ralph. A celebration of her life will be announced later. Joyce requested memorials to the South Pacific County Animal Shelter, Pacific County Fire District #1 or the "no-kill" pet shelter of one's choice. Her guestbook is available at www.penttilaschapel.com.
