Leslie Endicott Wells

November 20, 1941 — May 15, 2015

Leslie Endicott Wells, 73, died at his Ocean Park residence on May 15, 2015 following a lengthy illness. The only child of Francis and Alice (Haynes) Wells, he was born in Panama City, Panama on November 20, 1941. Les earned a computer science degree from a university in Virginia. During the "cold war" he served with the United States Army including during the Cuban Missle Crisis of the early 1960s. Les was employed as an electrical engineer, electrical technician and industrial technician during his career. He retired from the US Postal Service 15 years ago. Three years ago Les moved to Surfside from Vancouver. Locally Les was active with the Peninsula Model Train Group with his HO layout. He was a certified technician for Ham radio and a member of the local Ham radio group. Les loved the beach. In past years he spelunked caves, scuba dived, kayaked and cross-country skied. He had been a member of the Episcopal church and most recently the Lutheran church and was a member of Ocean Park Lutheran church. He had been a member of the Moose. On November 28, 1988 he married Deborah Chynoweth and their first home was in Virginia. She survives residing at home in Surfside. Also survivng are a step-son Anthony Chynoweth of Enumclaw, WA; grandchildren Ryan, Anthony Jr., Alexandra, and Alanna Chynoweth. Memorial service will be held Tuesday, June 9th, 2015, 2:00 PM at Ocean Park Lutheran Church with Pastors Richard Loop, Nels Flesher and Adrienne Strehlow participating. Memorials are requested to the local Episcopal and/or Lutheran church or the South Pacific County Humane Society. His guestbook is available at www.penttilaschapel.com.
