Timothy Edward Kary

December 23, 1952 — April 20, 2015

Chinook resident Timothy Edward Kary, 62, died of natural causes on April 20, 2015 in Ilwaco. The son of Edward "Bud" and Myrtle "Mert" Kary, Tim was born December 23, 1952 in Ilwaco. Tim grew up in Ilwaco and at an early age developed his life-long love of the outdoors. He and his good buddy David Maki often paddled over to Sand Island where they built a cabin and Tim spent many happy hours there. He was a graduate of Ilwaco High School. Following in the footsteps of his father, Tim became a commercial fisherman. He fished the waters of Alaska, the Caribbean, and the South Pacific. Later he worked on a pipe ling project in Pocatello, Idaho and cut cedar bolts from the hills above Bear River. Tim had been a volunteer fireman for the Ilwaco Fire Department. His love of all things outdoors meant fishing, hunting and camping. He also enjoyed reading and loved his numerous pets. Tim married Diane Barr in 1989 and they later divorced. For the past ten years he and his companion Nancy Avery resided in Chinook. Tim is survived by his companion Nancy Avey; sisters Melinda Kary of Castle Rock and Trudy Whittle of Vancouver, WA; brother Steve Kary of Ilwaco grandson Skyler Olsen; nephews Josh O'Neil and Peter Borchers; nieces Heather (O'Neil) Varila and Alica (Borchers) Meyers. He was preceded in death by his parents. A joint celebration of Tim's life and that of his mother Mert Kary will be Saturday, June 6, 2015, 1 until 3 PM at the Chinook School Gym.
