Michael Lee Halvorsen

November 13, 1955 — December 14, 2014

Ocean Park resident Michael Lee Halvorson, 59, died at his residence on December 14, 2014 with his family at his side. A native of Sturgis, South Dakota, Mike was born there November 13, 1955 the son of Gary and Eleanor Halvorson. At an early age the family moved west to seek employment, settling in Aloha, Oregon and later in Vancouver, Washington. There Mike graduated from Fort Vancouver High School. On June 13, 1975 Mike married Donna Eadie. For the ensuing 31 years they resided in Vancouver where Mike was employed as a machine operator/printer for Portco. Eight years ago he and Donna moved to Ocean Park to be close to Mike's parents who also live on the Peninsula. Mike worked in the hardware department at Jack's County Store in Ocean Park for 4 years before illness forced retirement. Mike enjoyed outdoor activities including fishing, hunting, golf, camping and spending quality time with his family. He also was a "big" sports fan, especially football, and avidly supported the Seattle Seahawks. He was also blessed with a great sense of humor and will not soon be forgotten. Besides his wife of 49 years, Mike is survived by daughter Jamie (husband Dennis) Hall of Amboy, WA; son Timothy Halvorson of Long Beach; his parents Gary and Eleanor Halvorson; sisters Sherry Nein and Joni Tooley and other members of his extended family. He was preceded in death by his parents and his mother-in-law Madeline Wells. Family and friends are invited to a celebration of his life and potluck to be held Saturday, January 10th, 2015, at Duey and Lynn Ames home, 1501 201st St. at Pacific Hwy in Klipsan Beach. "Stop by anytime between 12 Noon and 3 PM". Memorials are suggested to the Michael Halvorson family at Great Northwest Credit Union, Long Beach Branch.
