Jeanne Ludlow

January 8, 1918 — October 10, 2014

Our beloved mother Jeanne Ludlow passed away peacefully October 10, 2014 at her Oysterville residence in the presence of her family. She was born January 8, 1918 in Seattle. She grew up there where she enjoyed her career as an interior designer and raised her four children. In 1956 Jeanne married the love of her life, Walter Ludlow, and in 1978 they retired and moved to the Peninsula and Jeanne began a life at the beach that she truly loved. Working together, she and Walt built their home which proved to be full of love, laughter and hospitality, providing respite to many. The family will always treasure Jeanne playing the piano, the tables spread with board games and the relaxed atmosphere where everyone could come and enjoy. Jeanne had a passion for roses of all colors and varieties, for art, books, wildlife, her beloved dogs, birds and music. Music is where Jeanne's heart and soul shined, serving God by volunteering for many years as a pianist in the various churches and nursing homes and also playing the pump organ at the historic Oysterville church. Jeanne will be greatly missed by the community whom she served and loved without reserve. She was a woman of action, a true lover of life which she loved fully. Her family will miss her vivacious spirit. Survivors include three daughters, Sally Jarvela, Susan Brown, Mary Meyer; one son Miles Mitchell; two step-sons David and Alan Ludlow; 16 grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren. A viewing will be held Thursday, October 16, 2014, 10 AM until 4 PM at Penttila's Chapel by The Sea in Long Beach. Memorial service will be held Sat., October 18, 2014 at 2 PM at the Peninsula Church of the Nazarene, N. 13th and Pacific Hwy., Long Beach. Her guestbook is available at www.penttilaschapel.com.
