Robert L. "Bob" Chambers, 87, of Seaview, WA died July 29, 2014 at home surrounded by his loving family. He was born August 23, 1926 in Dallas Texas. He was raised in Oklahoma until the age of 9 at which time the family moved to Cordova, Alaska. There he learned to love the fishing and hunting lifestyle that he enjoyed throughout his lifetime. Bob joined the US Navy in 1943, rising to the rank of Chief Corpsman before retiring in 1966. He was very proud of his twenty-three years of service in the Navy. In October of 1974 Bob married Betty Wascher Bannister and they began raising their eight children, first in Seaside, OR; then in 1979 moving to Seaview. His younger children graduated from Ilwaco HS. Following his retirement from the Navy, Bob began working as an X-ray technician, first in Astoria, then Seaside before making the move to Ocean Beach Hospital in 1979 from where he retired in 1988. Bob was a member of the Elks, Legion and Moose. He loved to be outdoors hunting, fishing and clamming. Sturgeon fishing was probably his most enjoyable pastime.
