Ida Marie Wulf

April 6, 1919 — March 4, 2014

Ida Wulf, 94, died March 4, 2014, in Ocean Park. The daughter of Arnold L. Mills and Hazel Tripp, she was born April 6, 1919, in Junction City, Ore. As a child she and her family lived in logging camps around Eugene, Ore., and in the late 1930s they family picked fruit in Nachez. She finished eighth grade at Trent School. In June 1941 she married Bill Wulf in Ridgefield. They lived in Derbyville for a time before moving back to Clark County. The couple divorced in 1960, and Ida moved to the beach. She worked as a nurse's aide at Ocean Park from 1961 to 1978, and worked part-time at Doris' Café in Ilwaco. She helped Dr. Neace deliver both her grandchildren. She loved to cook, did oil painting, collected driftwood, crocheted, and loved to dig, cook and eat razor clams. She also was a rock-hound, loved camping and Harleys. She was a member of the Eagles, the Elks Out-a-Steppers marching group and was a member of the Chinook Lutheran Church. She moved to Golden Sands Assisted Living Facility in 2000. She was one of the first residents and lived there for 14 years. She loved living at Golden Sands and had wonderful care and made many good friends. Some of her fondest memories were going on out-of-town trips with either Doris Chittenden, Katherine Swenson or Helen Williams and her daughter, Shirley Armstrong. They had lots of laughs together. Survivors include her daughter, Claudia M. Edwards-Kemmer of Long Beach; her sisters, Faye Yankee of Vancouver and Janetta Jones of Lakeview, Ore.; her grandchildren, Claudette Edwards Terry and Blaine Edwards of Ocean Park; her great-grandchildren, Brandon Christman and Aaron Terry of Ocean Park and Morgan Gabriel of Spokane; as well as several nieces and nephews. Her parents; her ex-husband; a sister, Arlene McIntire; and a great-grandson, Travis Christman, preceded her in death. A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. on March 16 at Golden Sands, 21608 "O" Lane in Ocean Park. Penttila's Chapel by The Sea is in charge of arrangements. Ida's guest book is available at www.penttilaschapel.com
