Eleanor J. Halvorson, 78, died peacefully March 3, 2014 at her Ocean Park residence with her family at her side. The daughter of Fred and Naomi Ruby, she was born in Newell, South Dakota on June 6, 1935. On September 25, 1952 she married Gary Halvorson and they settled in Black Hills, South Dakota. They were married for 60 years until his death. Eleanor was a wife, mother and homemaker, and was also self-employed in retail sales. Eighteen years ago Eleanor settled on the Peninsula, coming here from Vancouver, Washington. Survivors include her daughter Sherry (Tom) Nein of Vancouver, WA and Joni (Rick) Tooley of Woodland, WA; son Mike (Donna) Halvorson of Ocean Park; two brothers; two sisters; grandchildren Chris Nein, Jamie (Dennis) Hall, Tim Halvorson and Justin (Kelly) Tooley and great-grandson Evan Tooley.
