Neil Francis Kennedy

Neil Francis Kennedy died of natural causes in Ocean Beach Hospital on January 21, 2014. He was born to Frank R. and Bessie Kennedy on June 26, 1924 in Vancouver, Washington. Neil attended Hillsboro High School. He served his country during World War II in the US Army as an M.P. during which time he provided security at the Manhattan Project at Los Alamos, New Mexico. He then attended Pacific University and graduated from Oregon State University in 1952 with a pharmacy degree courtesy of the G.I. Bill. Neil married LeeAnn Kramein in 1947. They settled in Hillsboro, Oregon where he owned and operated Palm Drug Store. His love of the outdoors led him to a career in the ocean fishing industry as a commercial fisherman and later as charter boat operator. He was a 45 year resident of the Peninsula. He divorced in the mid 1970s and spent the last 34 years of his life happily married to Roberta Olson. They loved to travel and spent winters in Yuma, Arizona where they enjoyed square dancing and round dancing. He was a member of the Kiwanis Club and served on the Sea Resources Board. Neil was happiest when surrounded by his loving family and friends. He is survived by his wife Roberta Kennedy; children Candice Gillette (Greg), Craig Kennedy (Theresa), Michael Kennedy, Steve Olson (Lori), Shirley Thompson (Dan), Karen Wilson (Butch) and John Olson (Kari); numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
