Joyce Otterson

January 30, 1942 — June 7, 2013

Joyce Otterson, 71, of Chinook, died Friday, June 7, 2013, in her home surrounded by family and friends. She gave a valiant effort in her fight against cancer. Joyce was born Jan. 30,1942, in Longview, to Clem and Jewel Warner. Joyce graduated high school from R. A. Long in Longview. Twenty-five years ago she moved to the local area. She was a true entrepreneur and had many successful businesses through the years. She owned and operated Coast to Coast Real Estate in Naselle, Changes Day Spa in Ilwaco, and later Curves in both Ilwaco and Long Beach. Joyce enjoyed family events and hiking in the mountains. Joyce had a smile that could light up a room and a laugh that was infectious. No truer words could describe her than in the song written for her by her son, Steve, "Her eyes were filled with magic, she's everybody's friend. When you're down and out and need her, she'll extend an open hand. There will never be another you. You can travel the world and the ocean blue. There will never ever be another you." Joyce is survived by her husband, Charlie, of the home; two sons, Steve and (Linda) Delzell of Chinook and Paul Delzell of Seattle; two brothers, Gary Warner of Seattle and Dave Warner of Los Moches, Mexico; plus family and friends too numerous to mention. She was preceded in death by her parents and her grandson, Stevie. No service is planned per her request. At a later date her ashes will be placed on her favorite hiking trail. "May her spirit soar high." Her guestbook is available at www.penttilaschapel.com.
