Bonnie Lorraine Spaulding

BONNIE LORRAINE SPAULDING Long Beach resident Bonnie L. Spaulding, 67, died peacefully November 25, 2012 in Seaside, Oregon following a battle with Alzheimer's disease. The daughter of Charles and Margaret (Stoneberg) Preston, she was born January 22, 1945 in Portland, Oregon. Bonnie was a graduate of U.S. Grant High School in Portland in 1963. She graduated from the School of Radiology at Oregon Health Sciences University in 1966 and began a 40 year career as a radiology technician with emphasis on mammography. Bonnie was employed at hospitals in Portland and Seattle prior to coming to the Peninsula where she worked at Ocean Beach Hospital for over 17 years. Bonnie loved traveling, photography, children, and her canine companions. She enjoyed music and was a patron and season ticket holder of the Oregon Symphony Orchestra. She remained close to a group of her Grant High School classmates and they would make it a priority to get together annually. She was blessed with a generous spirit and touched the lives of many women, men and children on the Long Beach Peninsula and beyond. Bonnie and husband Ray Spaulding raised three sons. In 1995 Bonnie met her partner Lawrence Keith and the two spent 17 years in loving companionship together. He survives residing in Long Beach. Also surviving are sons Matt Schommer, Brentin and Quentin Spaulding; grandchildrem Christopher Schommer, Nathean Lenard, Madison Spaulding, Makaylah Spaulding and Rebecca Spaulding. A celebration of Bonnie's life will be held Wednesday, December 5, 2012, 1:00 PM at Penttila's Chapel by The Sea in Long Beach with a potluck reception following at the chapel. Graveside service will be held at River View Cemetery in Portland, Oregon on Tuesday, December 4, 2012, 1:00 PM.
