OBITUARY OF PEARL LOUISE MAINWARING Long Beach resident Pearl L. Mainwaring, 68, died January 5, 2007 in Long Beach. Born August 28, 1938 in Chewelah, Washington, she was the daughter of Peter and Isabelle (Moore) Deschand. Pearl grew up in rural Stevens County where she participated in 4-H livestock activities and also enjoyed fishing and band. During her freshman year she moved with her family to Clark County, graduating from Ridgefield High School in 1956. Pearl married her best friend and fishing buddy Derald Mainwaring in 1959 and they resided in Ridgefield. Besides being a devoted wife and mother, Pearl worked at Bemis Bag Co. in Vancouver, as a cake decorator, and as a hostess and cashier at Elmer's Restaurant in Hazel Dell. In 1987 she moved to Long Beach where she operated Buoy 10 Restaurant in downtown Long Beach. Later she was cashier and baker at the Potlatch Restaurant located at Chautauqua Lodge and then was a cashier at Marsh's Free Museum until retiring. Finally she had time to continue enjoying fishing and cake decorating, along with sewing, beach combing and time with family and friends. Besides her husband of 47 years, Pearl is survived by daughters and son-in-laws Debbie and Kerry Jones of Ocean Park and Linda and Jim Hobson of Brush Prairie, WA; sister Virginia and husband Ted Rasmussen of Nevada; brothers Kelly and wife Bette Deschand of Camas, WA, Darrell Deschand of Brush Prairie and Gary and wife Lorie Deschand of Ridgefield; granddaughters Jennifer and Lisa; and great-grandchildren Maryann, Starta, Sabrina and Tucker. Pearl's family will announce a celebration of life service at a later date. In lieu of flowers, those wishing may make memorial donations to the South Pacific County Humane Society, PO Box 101, Long Beach, WA 98631 or the American Diabetes Association, 1730 Minor Ave., Suite 920, Seattle, WA 98101.
