Pat Butterworth

July 28, 1932 — December 16, 2006

Patricia "Pat" Butterworth, 74, died December 16 2006 at her Long Beach, Washington residence. The daughter of John Parker and Helen (McConville) Lawrie, she was born in Edinburgh, Scotland on July 28, 1932. She received her education at the Royal Mile Primary School in Edinburgh. At age 21 Pat immigrated to the United States, settling in Greenwich, Connecticut. She was married to Walter Rozmus for 19 years and they were parents of four children. After her children were in high school Pat began working for the city of Greenwich at Parsonage Cottage, a home for the elderly. She began as a helper and retired as director after 20 years. She and Greig Butterworth were married January 4, 1988 in Greenwich and in 1990 moved to Long Beach. Pat was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church of Seaview where she volunteered at St. Vincent dePaul and their food bank. She also was a volunteer with Harbors Home Health and Hospice in Long Beach. Artistically talented, Pat enjoyed painting in watercolors. She was a member of the Peninsula Art Association and also the Trails End Art Association. She entered many local art shows and received numerous awards. Pat also enjoyed writing feature stories for local publications. She had traveled extensively, enjoyed gardening and life by the sea, having lived in both the east and west coast. Pat was proud of her Scottish heritage, her independence, and dearly loved her family. Besides her husband Greig of Long Beach, Pat is survived by children Ron, Wally and wife Amy, Jennifer and husband Scott, Katie and husband Len, all of Connecticut; grandchildren Allison, Charlie. Paige, Heather, Christina and Judith; and brother Douglas Lawrie. She was preceded in death by brother Frank. Memorial service will be Wednesday, December 20, 2006, 11:00 AM at Penttila's Chapel by The Sea, Long Beach. A reception follows at the chapel. The family requests that in lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society728 134th St. SW, Suite 101, Everett, WA 98204. A memorial service will also be held in Greenwich, Connecticut at the First United Methodist Church at 10:30 Am Wednesday, December 27th with Rev. Kenneth J. Kieffer officiating.
