Alan Teal Daulton

June 29, 1948 — December 30, 2025

Chinook, WA

Alan T. Daulton, 77, died peacefully on December 30, 2025 at his Chinook, Washington residence. The son of Robert Irwin and Mary Alice (Teal) Daulton, he was born June 29, 1948 at Hollywood (CA) Presbyterian Medical Center. He grew-up with his parents and sister Nancy in the nearby San Fernando Valley, attending Oxnard St. Elementary, Sun Valley Junior High and graduating from North Hollywood High School where he played baseball which he enjoyed since his youth.

On November 20, 1969, Alan entered duty with the U.S. Navy, serving as a Seaman YN3 stationed aboard the USS Dixie. Alan served two years and transferred to Naval Reserve duty in 1971, being honorably discharged in 1974. Alan attended Pierce College in California, obtaining an associate degree.

It was 1976 when Alan first visited the Peninsula, helping a friend who resided here move back to Los Angeles. In the interim the friend found love here, so Alan decided to stay and it’s been his home ever since. He began employment at Pete’s Lumber in Seaview.

Alan later worked for Gary Luethe at Sore Thumb Construction, and for 28 years was employed with the Washington State Parks in maintenance, and waste water. Before retirement he was a seasonal waste water technician for 4 years for the City of Long Beach, retiring at age 67.

Always one to stay busy, Alan was an active volunteer for the Chinook Fire Department where he also was bookkeeper for many years. Alan was an early volunteer member of the Pacific County Cliff Rescue Group and while at working at Fort Columbia was instrumental in the restoration of the theatre. A resident of Chinook, he was instrumental in the installation of sidewalks.

A well-maintained lawn and yard, woodworking, historical preservation projects, and quality time with friends and family: that was Alan. In his youth he attended Trinity Presbyterian Church in North Hollywood. Locally Alan attended Ocean Beach Presbyterian Church in Seaview where he was active in the Men’s Group.

On May 19, 1985, Alan married Shelley Jones at Fort Columbia State Park. She survives residing at the family home in Chinook. Also surviving are daughter Ali (Ray) Coulston; granddaughter Hazel; sister Nancy Ainsworth; and many members of extended family.

The family extends sincere appreciation to his health care providers over the years including Harbors Home Health, Ocean Beach Hospital, Providence Cancer Research Project, Ocean Beach Presbyterian Church, along with his numerous friends and neighbors; all are much appreciated. Memorials are requested to the Ilwaco Cemetery Association, PO Box 215, Ilwaco, Washington 98624.

Memorial service will be Saturday, January 31, 2026, 11:00 AM at Ocean Beach Presbyterian Church in Seaview with a reception following.
