Anne Anderson passed away peacefully on February 14, 2021. Anne was born June 7, 1940, in Tiffin, Ohio. She was the eldest daughter of  children to Joseph Anthony Wade and Florence Isabelle Egbert. She was raised in Tiffin, Ohio and graduated from Calvert High School in 1958.

Anne wed and moved to Michigan where she began attending Harper School of Nursing from 1958-1961. She graduated with a nursing degree and began her career as an RN at Mercy Hospital in Detroit, Michigan.

Anne was a wonderful, loving and extremely involved Mother to her four children.  She worked the nightshift so she could be available to always be involved with her children’s activities and nurtured their many interests and talents.

In 1979 Anne and her family migrated to the West Coast. She worked as an RN at Oregon Health and Sciences University Hospital in Portland, Oregon. Anne remarried July 20, 1992, to Duane Anderson where they resided in Portland, Oregon.  In 1996 she retired from OHSU. She would ultimately return to work for Dr. F.R. (Doc) Sutherland in Ilwaco, Wash., until his retirement in 2013.

Anne loved the coast.  She would often spend her weekends and vacations enjoying the coastal life with her family and friends. In August 1997 Anne and Duane purchased their beach home in Ocean Park, Wash., where Anne quickly became an active and valued member of the Long Beach Peninsula Community.

Anne volunteered and was extremely instrumental in organizing and serving the community through the Community Food Table Project. Anne spent several hours per week organizing, cooking and delivering meals to local people in need.  Anne was also a volunteer for Crisis Support and advocated for abuse victims, her continuous want to help was one of her most admirable qualities. She will be deeply missed in our community.

Anne was an extremely skilled artist and writer. She loved to knit beautiful pieces for family and friends.  She also loved to work in her home craft studio where she was “in her happy place” creating treasures for family and friends. Anne loved the theatre. She would travel to Ashland, Oregon multiple times a year with her close friends to attend the Shakespeare Festival.  Anne loved collecting beautiful things and always had a book in hand.

Anne was a vibrant member of the Ocean Park Lutheran Church where her love of  her church family and faith was strong.  Anne was a talented musician and vocalist.  She was honored to be a member of the Bayside Singers and the Ocean Park Lutheran Church Choir.

Anne is survived by her four children; sons, Jon Kukula (Lori) and Peter Kukula; daughters, Chris Kukula Barry (Pat) and Michele Kukula McNany (Matt); her eight grandchildren, Ryan Kukula, Ross Kukula, Blake Kukula, Kaitlyn Kukula, Josh Kukula, Jonny Kukula, Keenan Barry, Owen Barry; her five siblings:  her sisters Sara (Jim) Drake, Joan (Don) Smith, and Lisa (BJ) Chandler, her brothers, Pete (Susan) Wade, and Mike Wade, who will forever remember her with joy and laughter. And, although she has at last been guided home, she will always be the beautiful voice singing in our hearts, healer of hurts, instigator of laughs, and most beloved friend. Anne is preceded in death by her husband Duane Anderson and a sister, Jane Wade Humphries.

A Celebration of Life will be held Sunday April 25 at the Ocean Park Lutheran Church at 1 p.m. She was a champion of many causes; in lieu of flowers, the family requests that any contributions in her memory be made to the Ocean Park Lutheran Church.
