Betty Jean Woods, known as Bet to family and friends, passed peacefully with loved ones by her side, Tuesday, September 16th, 2025, at 71, at her daughter’s home in Yacolt, Washington.
Born July 14th,1954, to Earl L. Woods and Joan C. (Peterson) Woods, she was raised in Vancouver, Washington and grew up with her brothers Mike Woods, and Tim Woods. She attended Fort Vancouver High School.
A long time Peninsula resident, she moved to Ocean Park in the 1980’s, spending the last 16 years with her partner, John Woods, residing there until her recent illness.
Bet loved animals, the water, snorkeling in Hawaii, taking trips, camping, and spending time with family and friends. She was quite the adventurer and was always on the go. She loved music and would get up and dance in a heartbeat if she felt the music move her!
Perhaps her greatest passion was her love for motorcycle riding, and the freedom she felt from that. She shared this love of riding with friends and her partner John, participating in fundraising events for many a good cause.
She owned a small cleaning and janitorial service called B&J Cleaning, until she retired in 2018.
Bet is preceded in death by, (and joins her parents) Earl L. Woods and Joan C. Woods, and her baby sister Toni Woods, and several of her cherished fur babies, both canine and feline.
She is survived by her partner John R. Woods of Ocean Park, her daughter Heather Gabbert of Yacolt WA, her son Jason Gabbert of Vancouver WA, her daughter-in-law Amy Gabbert of Vancouver WA, and her grandchildren Jada Guidinger, Macy Guidinger, and Colby Gabbert and Elise Ciatto.
There will be a Celebration of Life held for Bet Woods on Saturday, October 11th at 1 p.m. at the Ocean Park Moose Lodge. This will be a pot luck, so please join us and bring your favorite dish and share your favorite story about Betty Jean ‘Bet’ Woods.
