David Sexton

David Daniel Sexton peacefully passed away at home on November 21, 2023 in Long Beach, Washington with his wife by his side.

He was born on November 26, 1943 in Salem, Oregon to James Andrew and Donna Mae (Hoskins) Sexton. He joined three siblings, James Lee, Mary Jane (Williams), and John Andrew. He grew up on a 40 acre farm in the west Salem hills where they raised cherries and prunes. David attended Salem schools, graduating from South Salem High School.

In 1963, he married Nani Carr in Salem, Oregon. They later divorced. To that union three children were born, David Dow, William Alan, and Ann Elisa.

In 1993, he married Sarah Williams Porter in Warrenton, Oregon. He became Dad to her daughters, Measha Kay and Terri Ann.

David was a building contractor, first in the Salem area, and then the Warrenton/Hammond area of the Oregon coast. He built many homes, apartments and commercial buildings including the final phase of Point Triumph Condominiums in Hammond. He was known for his quality work, his work ethic and his honesty.

David loved deer and elk hunting with family. He particularly enjoyed his deer hunting trips to Spanish Peak in the Ochocco Mountains of Oregon. He made his first trip there with his parents when he was four years old. He had hours worth of hunting stories.

He loved his family. He especially enjoyed having a grandchild on his lap sharing ice cream and jelly beans with them.,  
David is survived by his wife, Sarah, his children, David Dow, Portland, Oregon, Bill (Holly), Salem, Oregon, Ann (Jim) Smith, Powers, Oregon, Measha Porter, Hammond, Oregon, Terri (Doug) Swallows, Long Beach, Washington. There are six grandchildren, Sabrina (Jordan) Swanson, Darren (Kathryn) Swallows, Garrett (Lexi) Smith, Autumn (Nigel) Dumas, Courtney (Tanner) Swallows, Sierra Sexton-Mahedy. He was blessed with three great-grandchildren, Adrian, Bella and Helix.

At David’s request, there will be no service. A private disposition of ashes will occur at a later date. Memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimers Association or the charity of your choice.

Penttila’s Chapel By The Sea assisted the family with respect and dignity.
