Obituary

Deborah Ann Scarpelli, aged 75, of Chinook, Washington, passed away on May 29, 2026.

Born to Joy and Charles Warren, Deborah was raised on Mercer Island in Seattle before her early years took her to Renton, South Carolina, and Hawaii. She eventually settled in Everett, Washington, where she worked as a log grader in the logging industry—a career she absolutely loved. Upon her retirement, Deborah moved to Ocean Park to care for her mother until her passing in 2011, a devoted time made easier by having her sister, Susan, right by her side.

Though naturally shy, Deborah was known for her caring, sweet nature and her romantic, dreamer's spirit. Her happy place was always in the water, where she excelled as an amazing competitive swimmer. Raised with a deep appreciation for Broadway musicals, her absolute favorites were Oklahoma! and West Side Story. She held dearly the memory of starring as Tiger Lilly in a local production of Peter Pan, sharing the stage with her sisters, Susan as Tinkerbell and Connie as Peter Pan.

It was in Long Beach that Deborah's romantic heart found its match when she met the love of her life, Tim. Over their 13 joyful years together, Tim became her entire world. The couple shared a deep love for the outdoors, often spending their days kayaking to Long Island, Bone River, and the edge of the Columbia river. Deborah loved helping Tim at his worksites, walking the shores beachcombing, and indulging in their shared favorite—local seafood. They were avid rock hunters, always delighted to discover pyrite among their treasures, and shared their home with two beloved goats. Deborah's adventurous spirit also took her across the globe on a beautiful African nature safari, where she fulfilled a dream of seeing elephants in the wild.

“How lucky I am to have something that makes saying goodbye so hard.”
