Fred was born on October 18, 1942, in White Salmon, Washington, and passed away at his home in Ocean Park, Washington. He lived a life defined by dedication to his family, his community, and his service.

Fred is lovingly remembered by his devoted wife of 61 years, Alice Hill. Together they built a strong and enduring family. He is survived by his children, Steven Hill and Annmarie Hill. Fred took great pride in his grandchildren—Allison, Megan, and Jordan—who brought him immense joy, and he was known for never missing an event or opportunity to support them.

He is also survived by his brothers, Dale (Rhonda) Hill and George (Pam) Hill, and his sisters, Mary Whittemore and Marta Smith, as well as many nieces, nephews, and other extended family members.

Fred was preceded in death by his parents, Robert and Mary Frances Hill; his brother, Bob Hill; and his sister, Mardell Kirsten.

Fred’s legacy extends far beyond his family through his extraordinary commitment to public service. He served Pacific County Fire District #1 with distinction for over four decades. Beginning his service on April 17, 1979, Fred dedicated 46 years to the district, taking on numerous roles including Firefighter, Fire Investigator, EMT, EMT Intravenous Therapy Technician, EMT Airway Technician, Captain, Commissioner, and Chairman of the Board. In addition, Fred served his community as a commissioner for the local hospital district for a number of years.

Fred also served as a reserve deputy with the Pacific County Sheriff’s Office for a number of years and was among the first reserve deputies to graduate from the department’s in-house academy, reflecting his deep commitment to public safety and service.

As the owner of Klipsan Meadows Mobile Home Park, he built not just a business, but lasting relationships within the community.

His leadership, courage, and unwavering dedication made a lasting impact on the community he served. Fred’s contributions reflect a lifetime of selflessness and commitment to helping others in times of need. He will also be deeply missed by his friends and companions at his regular morning coffee gatherings, where he shared stories, laughter, and friendship.
