Obituary

John (Alan) Crall, age 86, passed away April 20th at Providence Hospital in Portland, Oregon, after suffering a major cardiac event. He was surrounded by loved ones, including Rhea, his devoted wife of 53 years.

Alan was born in Port Angeles, Washington, October 26, 1939. His family moved to Kelso where he attended school and was a letterman football player for Kelso High.

Alan was hired on at Longview Fibre Co where he continued to work until he retired as Machine Tender "Extraordinaire" in 2002 after 45 years. After retirement, Alan and Rhea moved to Ocean Park, Washington and became Snowbirds for several years until they stopped traveling so Alan could fish, crab and clam dig. He skippered his own boat and fished and crabbed with his close friends. Fishing, crabbing and clam digging were his favorite pastimes.

Alan was well known for his quick wit and sense of humor, keeping his sons, daughter and grandchildren in stitches countless times over the years. He was a jovial host and wonderful friend to many. He was an active member in The Fraternal Order of the Eagles, serving as a Trustee for a time. For seventeen years, Alan and Rhea enjoyed decorating the lounge and other rooms for every occasion and holiday. Alan was also a long time member of The Peninsula Moose club, and a Sons Of the Legion member.

Alan's crowning achievement was as a loving and devoted Husband, Father, Grandfather, Great-Grandfather, Uncle, Brother and Son. He was very much loved, admired and respected and will be greatly mourned and missed. He was preceded in death by his father John C. Crall, his mother Mildred McNeeley, his brother Barton Crall, son Terry Crall and stepson David Skorpen. He is survived by his wife Rhea; sisters Linda Horenstein and Robin (James) Gunter; sons Keith (Shari) Skorpen, Tymm Gwane and Kevin Conner; constant and devoted daughter Theresa Conner; daughter Cyndi (Bill) Ticen; six grandchildren and six great-grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews and their children.

Alan is now resting and embraced in the arms of The Lord.

In lieu flowers, any donations made to the South Pacific County Humane Society are greatly appreciated
