John C. Hanke lived a beautiful life. John was born February 7th, 1945 in Vancouver, WA to loving parents, Gustave & Leslie Hanke. He lived in Vancouver most of his life before he moved to Ocean Park, WA. He passed away unexpectantly Saturday, November 25th, 2023 doing what he loved – drinking a beer, having a smoke and watching football.
He attended Fort Vancouver High School (class of 1963), “Go Trappers” where he was a cheerleader and great student.
He was a hard-working man and had various jobs in different industries. He loved driving and worked as a beer distributor, tool delivery, waste disposal driver and most recently at Jack’s in Ocean Park. John's work ethic was unmatched and because of his personality and ability to get along with people, his community loved him and he loved them back.
He was a magnetic force, people gravitated towards him, and he accepted and loved them all. He was compassionate, loving, caring, attentive, and hilarious. If you were around John, you were guaranteed to laugh because he had a great story for you.
John loved classic cars and classic 50’s & 60’s music. He loved car shows, especially the Rod Run.
John is preceded in death by his loving parents, Gustave and Leslie Hanke and his wife Terry Hanke. He is survived by his daughters: Lori (Jesse) Bryant and Shannon Mackey. His grandchildren: Kristi Osborn, Justin Abernathy and Robert Abernathy, and 8 great grandchildren. His siblings: Byron Hanke (Diane), Alan Hanke (Diane). He is also survived by all his loving nephews and nieces.
Dad, we will miss you. You were our "go-to" when life got rough and our comfort when we needed clarity. You were always someone we could count on, and although you were a straight shooter, you always got your point across without judgement, and always provided us sound advice. You always made sure we made our decisions after thinking things through. We are all better people Dad, because of you. We will forever keep you in our hearts with God.
Dad’s request was to be cremated and laid to rest next to his wife Terry. In keeping with the wishes of Dad, no funeral or memorial service will be held.
