Linda Curry

August 23, 1944 — August 16, 2024

Linda Lee Curry was born as she lived, strong and determined, on August 23, 1944 in Denver, Colorado to Loss and Barbara (Clamette) Stewart.

She started working young at the family restaurant, Stewart’s Diner, in Denver. In 1957, she moved to Ilwaco, Washington. Not long after, it was love at first sight when Linda met her life partner Richard “Dick” Curry. They married September 1963 and were inseparable and in love until Dick preceded her in death in May 2009. Dick enlisted in the Army and they moved to Alabama briefly for Dick’s school, before being stationed in Alaska for 3 years. They returned to the Peninsula in 1969 and settled in Long Beach. Always family first, Linda took time off from working at the Ice Palace in Ilwaco to raise their two sons. She took up work again at the Chinook Cannery when their sons were older to help put them through college until she officially retired.

Kind, charmingly stubborn, compassionate, and fiercely loving, Linda lived life to the fullest and loved her family with everything she had. She taught everyone what love really means. She’s remembered for her soft heart, welcoming arms, always smiling, having fun, and never turning down a milkshake. Linda loved going on trips to Hawaii and Reno with Dick. Some of her favorite activities were salmon and sturgeon fishing, clamming, beach combing, bowling, and golfing. She can still be heard cheering for the Mariners. She loved seeing deer in her yard and beautiful flowers in her garden. When Linda wasn’t letting everyone know about her hole-in-one, she loved spending time with her family, whether it was cooking with them, getting ice cream together, or chatting with her friends for hours. Linda taught her grandchildren how to cook, knit, crochet, drive, golf, and lose at card games such as Sticks and Skip-Bo, and so much more. She made them the best grilled cheese sandwiches and smoothest cream of wheat. She truly left a mark on every life she touched. She always made everyone feel included. She could do anything she set her mind to.

Linda passed away August 16, 2024 with loved ones by her side after a courageous 14 month battle with cancer.

Linda lives on in her sons Kevin Curry and Steven Curry, Steven’s wife Amy, and her grandkids Becca, Alaina, and Brent Curry, as well as her sisters Doris Meyers, Sharon (Gerry) Rubey, Annabelle Wood, Norma White, and Gloria Carlson, her brother Randy Stewart, and her best friend and sister-in-law Eva Noonan. She is preceded in death by her husband Dick, and her brothers Irvin, Melvin, Dennis, and Ivan Stewart.

If you would like to honor Linda, donations, including those of (homemade) hats, headbands, and small blankets, may be made to CMH-OHSU Knight Cancer Collaborative in Astoria, Oregon or a charity for cancer of your choice.
