This is Linda's story of life, not death.
She was born in Ilwaco on October 14th, 1947 to Tom and Rachel Davis, the eighth child of nine. She attended our local schools, but never went to college because she found her future husband on the dance floor in 1966. Linda and Charles were married in 1968, starting a family and partnership in life of over 57 years together. Two wonderful daughters came into the marriage which Linda doted over. She was not one to embrace activities outside of family or home, but she would offer all the help she could for those that needed it. Linda was a quiet person that formed the backbone of the family.
She followed her husband in all his adventures, work, and fishing partner in calm or rough seas. The last 12 years before retirement in 2013 you would find her setting up her temporary home at worksites throughout the Western States. She enjoyed the travel opportunities this presented visiting places in Canada and exploring what was in those areas. Her focus was on the two daughters, Chris and Rachel and as their families began to grow she had more to dote on, including eight granddaughters, one grandson, and one great grandson that she never got to see. Christmas was always hectic for her as the house filled up with kids and dogs, but the laughter and family made it worth it for her.
You might have met Linda, as she and her sister Joan Mosher teamed up to run three restaurants over the years; Tidewinds and Portside Café in Ilwaco, and the Sub Shop in Long Beach. In 2023 health started to fail her and although her cancer was put into remission, the radiation treatment took its toll requiring her to depend on oxygen. On a quite evening June 9th, 2025 at home her ordeal with her health overcame her. Surviving are her husband Charles, daughter Chris Kummerele and husband Jim, along with their two daughters and one great grandson; daughter Rachel Mikkola and husband Chuck Guthrie and their six daughters and one son.
Linda's parents, along with all of her other 8 siblings preceded her, she was the last member of a large local family. I will always miss Linda, she was special in my heart and soul, a wife, mother, and life partner until we meet again, I carry you with me in my heart.
