Robert E. Andrew, lovingly known as “Bob,” passed away peacefully on September 15, 2025, at the age of 75, surrounded by family and friends.
Born March 10, 1950, in Vancouver, Washington, Bob was the youngest son of Edward and Doris Andrew. He grew up in Clark County, where he spent his early years riding horses, wrestling, and later graduating with the Evergreen High School Class of 1968.
Even as a boy, Bob loved animals, his horses, dogs, and was part of the Boy Scouts. Bob showed an entrepreneurial spark. He raised more than 100 rabbits—selling both the meat and what he jokingly called “rabbit fertilizer.” That ingenuity and drive continued throughout his life, from selling Amway to opening food establishments with his beloved wife, Judi.
Bob met Judi when he was just 14 and she was 13, and from that moment forward, she was the love of his life. They married on September 5, 1970, shortly after Bob’s service in the 104th Transportation Division of the Army Reserves. This year, they celebrated 55 years of marriage—years filled with devotion, laughter, and shared purpose. Their wedding day itself was memorable, with so much excitement to get to the reception that a fender-bender happened in the church parking lot.
Together, Bob and Judi built a beautiful life and were blessed with two children: their daughter, Ragan Andrew of St. Louis, Missouri, and their son, Louis Jared Andrew, who preceded his father in death at just 16 years old. Losing his only son was one of Bob’s greatest heartbreaks, yet his love for his family and his steadfast faith carried him through. His devotion to his wife, daughter, and community never wavered.
Bob’s life was defined by service. Guided by strong Christian values, he lived out his belief in “service before self.” For more than 25 years, he devoted himself to the Loyalty Days Foundation, where he became a face of patriotism in Washington State. On the Long Beach Peninsula, nearly everyone knew Bob—whether he was refereeing youth basketball games, serving as president of the Ocean Beach School Board, or leading as Mayor of the City of Long Beach for two terms. His leadership helped shape enduring landmarks, including Veterans Field, the Big Stage, and the Veterans Memorial area. Bob was also an active member of the Pacific County Friends of Lewis & Clark, where he enjoyed meeting new people and learning more about the History of the Lewis & Clark Expedition.
Known affectionately as “Baker Bob,” he was a fixture in Pacific County for 46 years. With Judi by his side, he owned and operated several beloved businesses, including the Cottage Bakery and Delicatessen, B.J. Squidley’s in Ocean Park, and Charlie’s Restaurant in Longview. Bob didn’t just bake—he created experiences. Whether it was crafting a 5-foot by 20-foot cake for a car show, tossing donut holes into parade crowds, or dreaming up new festivals to draw visitors to the peninsula, Bob poured creativity and joy into everything he did.
Above all, Bob loved deeply—his family, his friends, and his community. His life was marked by faith, generosity, and imagination. His legacy lives on in the people he touched, the projects he built, and the countless memories he created along the way.
Bob is survived by his devoted wife of 55 years, Judith “Judi” Andrew; his daughter, Ragan Andrew; and a wide circle of extended family and friends who loved him dearly. He was preceded in death by his parents, Edward and Doris Andrew; his brothers, James and Dale Andrew; and his son, Louis Jared Andrew, who now welcomes him home, “sleeping with angels.”
A service to celebrate Bob’s life and legacy will be announced soon. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made in his honor to OHSU Parkinsons.
A Memorial Service will be held Sat, September 27, 11:00am at Peninsula Church Center, 5000 N Pl, Seaview, WA 98644. Please wear patriot colors and if you have a classic car, bring it in celebration.
