Robert Huitt

Robert Stanley Huitt (Bob)- 86 years old, passed away peacefully on March 9th, 2024 at Columbia Memorial Hospital in Astoria, Oregon. 

Bob was born in Centralia, Washington on February 28th, 1938 and was raised by Eldred and Dorthy Penttila of Naselle. He later served in the US Air Force in the Strategic Air Command in the 1950's. He moved to the Long Beach Peninsula where he worked many jobs including working for the Pacific County Roads Department where he retired after 30 years. He was the primary caretaker of the Ilwaco Cemetery for over 20 years and dug graves in southwest Washington for over 60 years. He had a passion for the fishing industry and enjoyed commercial crabbing, having owned fishing vessels along the way. He enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren and great grandchildren. 

He is survived by his 2 daughters, 1 son, 9 grandchildren, and 7 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his son Stanley Huitt. 

A memorial service will be held April 20th, 2024 at 1pm at Penttila's Chapel by the Sea in Long Beach, WA. Procession to follow to the Ilwaco Cemetery.
