Since 1955… personal attention from a full service mortuary
In 1955 when Naselle native son Eldred and wife Dorthy Penttila first opened the doors of Penttila's Chapel by The Sea in what was then the rural outskirts of south Long Beach, they committed themselves to serve this community with compassionate, sincere, caring and above all, personal service with attention to every detail, no matter the situation or family choice. From Rosburg to Oysterville and points between and beyond, they chose to serve area families as they would themselves be served.
Fast forward to today, and you can see more than a few changes, and yet the same basic committment to families remains. Since 1989 ownership has been by Ron and Liz Hylton, Liz being licensed in both Oregon and Washington. Dan Hickey, licensed funeral director and embalmer, served in mortuary services with the United States Army during the Vietnam Conflict and is a graduate of the San Francisco College of Mortuary Sciences. Dale Staudenraus, retired Pacific county deputy sheriff, previously was employed in funeral service in past years, and again provides invaluable assistance as needed.
By visiting our site, you have full access to information about service options, our facility, history, mechandise and other services we offer. For nearly 55 years it has been a priviledge to serve area families and yet one thing hasn't changed: we still personally answer the phone "24/7" and when called, respond as needed, usually in a matter of minutes. It's a tradition here and one we're very proud of.
Eldred wouldn't have it any other way and neither would we.
